Changes to Leadership Team

Dear Parent/Carers

As semester one draws to a close, we wish to advise some changes to our CSC leadership team.

Dr Glenda McCarthy will be stepping into the principal role at CSC and Steve Smith will return to his role as Assistant Principal following a successful Semester 1 as principal. Assistant Principal, Mr Mark Goonan is accessing leave in Term 3, and we will advise plans going forward to accommodate for his absence. We wish to acknowledge Steve for his great work in leading the school in Semester 1.

Semester 2 will be an important period as we progress the work that will move us towards one amalgamated secondary school, Alice Springs College, in 2027. Ms Donna O’Brien will continue to lead this work with Dr Glenda McCarthy and Mr Ben Forbes who will lead CMS in Semester 2, 2026.

Kind regards,

Belinda Pearson

Dear Parents and Carers, At our college, the safety and wellbeing of students and staff is always a priority. As part of the Northern Territory Department of Education guidelines, we practise our emergency procedures so that everyone feels confident and prepared. In the near future, we will be conducting a practice invacuation (lockdown) drill. This is a routine activity that helps students and staff understand what to do in a calm and supportive environment. During the drill, students will be asked to follow staff instructions, which includes not contacting parents or guardians at that time or use of their phones. This helps us ensure the process runs smoothly and mirrors real procedures. Please be assured that in the unlikely event of a real emergency, families would be contacted by the college as soon as it is safe to do so. We appreciate your support in reinforcing the importance of these practice drills and helping students approach them in a calm and positive way. Kind regards, Steve Smith Principal
